Cypress TrueTouch™ Touchscreen Solution Drives Hot New Phones from Fujitsu

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 20, 2011 – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY) today announced that Fujitsu Limited has selected the TrueTouch™ touchscreen solution from Cypress to implement the touchscreens in the new F-07C, F-09C, and F-12C mobile phones, available from NTT DOCOMO. The hot new Fujitsu phones are each based on different operating systems and offer different features, but all rely on TrueTouch to implement brilliant, responsive touchscreens.

The F-07C is the world’s smallest Windows 7 handset.  It offers a 4-inch, 1024 x 600 display; enhanced security and a practical mobile-wallet function preinstalled. The F-09C takes advantage of Cypress’s unique waterproofing functionality to offer a waterproof body with a responsive, rotating 3.5 touchscreen that offers vibrant 3D experiences. It boasts a 16.3-megapixel camera capable of capturing full HD movies. The F-12C Android smartphone features a 3.7-inch bright color liquid display and voice-enhancement capability for extra-clear audio.

Cypress’s TrueTouch solution offers the world’s widest array of features, including 1-mm passive stylus support, proximity detection, waterproofing and the Charger Armor™ feature that enables mobile phones to operate in the presence of very noisy chargers. These features are made possible by the unique, patent-pending TrueTouch ability to execute both self-capacitance and mutual-capacitance measurements in the same device—and switch dynamically between the two in application.

“This announcement offers a clear example of why TrueTouch is the best touchscreen solution on the market,” said Dhwani Vyas, vice president of the User Interface Business Unit at Cypress. “Fujitsu is one of the world’s leading innovators of mobile phone technologies, and TrueTouch has the flexibility, feature set and performance to deliver outstanding touchscreens for all of their needs. We’re pleased and proud to continue our strong relationship with Fujitsu.”

“Fujitsu is committed to providing ‘human-centric’ phones with exceptional visibility, usability, listenability, and user interfaces,” said Hitoshi Yoshizowa, vice president of Japan Sales for Cypress. “Our team of engineers in Japan is committed to working closely with Fujitsu to help them achieve these objectives.”
