RS Components adds Cressall’s range of resistors and portable load bank units to portfolio for industrial applications

Global distribution agreement means quick and easy access for RS customers to reliable resistors for applications such as dynamic braking and motor control

LONDON, UK, 19 December, 2017 – RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has signed a distribution agreement with Cressall, (https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/passive-components/fixed-resistors/) a leading UK-based maker of resistive products, enabling industrial customers around the world to purchase the manufacturer’s products directly from RS. The range includes a wide selection of resistors for applications such as dynamic braking and motor control, as well as a range of portable load bank products.

The resistor range comprises a comprehensive selection of compact IP20-rated devices together with a choice of accessories that enable both purchase and installation costs to be kept low. Units in the range feature stable high-temperature resistance alloy to deliver reliability, as well as being rated for repetitive duties and high short-term overloads. Cressall’s resistors are suitable for deployment in a multitude of industrial applications and can handle dynamic braking, motor starting and stopping, equipment discharge, current limiting and test loads.

The ZC range of resistors features a versatile selection of adjustable resistor elements that are ideal for both continuous and high-energy short-time duties. Manufactured from an edge-wound strip of stainless steel supported on ceramic insulators, the ZC coils offer an adjustable solution for medium current applications. Available in two different lengths and seven different resistance windings, the ZC coils provide a modular resistor solution that is ideal for motor-control or load-testing applications. In addition, the devices are supplied with mounting feet and adjustable tapping clamps to enable easy selection of resistance values.

The HP resistor element range is suitable for those applications requiring high power in a small space. The resistor elements produce virtually no audible noise when subject to high frequency AC or chopped DC applications, and their open wire-wound construction makes them particularly suitable for repetitive short-term power overloads. The units are available in three different power ratings with a short time overload capability of up to seven times continuous rating.

Also available from RS is a range of Cressall portable load units, including: AC load units that are designed for testing power supplies, small UPS systems or generators; and a DC range for the testing of batteries or DC power supplies. Robust, reliable, lightweight and simple to use, all the portable load bank units are fan cooled, which helps to ensure a compact design. The fan supply voltage can be taken from the test load itself or from an auxiliary supply of 110 or 230V AC.

Cressall’s resistor and load bank products are now shipping from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
