IAR and SiliconAuto partner to advance the future of cars

One-stop-shop integrated solution and Functional Safety (FuSa) expert services accelerate time to market for customers
Uppsala, Sweden; November 5, 2024 – IAR, a leader in software solutions and services for embedded development, is pleased to announce its partnership with SiliconAuto. As a Functional Safety (FuSa) solutions partner, IAR will support SiliconAuto’s automotive chip development through IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm, complemented by the C-STAT and C-RUN code analysis tools. This collaboration delivers high integration, accelerating time to market and enhancing safety features in automotive chips, advancing future automotive technology.

SiliconAuto B.V., co-funded by Hon Hai Technology Group and leading automaker Stellantis, focuses on designing chip technologies for a variety of automotive systems. Its three core product lines – automotive MCU, SerDes, and SoC – drive advancements in various electronic control units (ECUs) such as body control modules (BCM), camera and display data transmission, and driver assistance systems. In the automotive industry, achieving Functional Safety (FuSa) certification requires rigorous verification and testing. Selecting the right tools is essential to ensure code quality, accelerate development, and improve efficiency. SiliconAuto, prioritizing Functional Safety as a core requirement, chose IAR as its FuSa solutions partner to create a high-performance, reliable development process.

“Our customers have extremely high standards for the quality of partner solutions, so we have strong confidence in IAR’s certified solutions from the initial phases of each project,” said Tommy Lin, Director of System Platform Design at SiliconAuto. “IAR’s extensive experience in functional safety enables us to develop, verify, and maintain consistency across builds quickly. Moreover, IAR’s local service teams are certified functional safety experts, providing prompt and comprehensive support that is crucial for the automotive industry.”

SiliconAuto selected IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm to develop driver applications and verify the normal operation of ICs. This partnership enables SiliconAuto’s MCU to deliver robust safety functions in the BCM controller. IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm offers a complete toolchain, including an optimized compiler and advanced debugging capabilities. The integrated code analysis tools actively identify code issues, improve code quality, and reduce potential security vulnerabilities, ensuring that security gaps are identified and addressed. This integrated solution helps SiliconAuto streamline development, saving time and effort while meeting customer needs for high-quality automotive products.

“IAR is committed to supporting SiliconAuto in developing more reliable automotive chip technology with our functional safety solutions,” said Kiyo Uemura, Area Vice President, APAC of IAR. “With vast potential in the global automotive industry, microcontrollers (MCUs) are pivotal for smart innovation in automotive electronics. IAR will continue to work with outstanding ecosystem partners like SiliconAuto to provide secure, embedded applications from product development to mass production, empowering the automotive industry to achieve future innovation.”

IAR offers fully integrated and consistent solutions throughout the design and development process, simplifying workflows and reducing design time and costs. This enables customers to focus on innovation. IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm is not only highly integrated but also enforces code quality, boosting development and verification efficiency.
