Built for the Elements: The Rugged, IP66-Rated Nuvo-9650AWP Industrial Computer from Impulse Embedded

  • Wide operating temperature of -25C to +70C with 65W CPU.
  • 1x M.2 2280 M key (PCIe Gen4 x4).
  • 2x 262-pin DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM, up to 96GB.
  • Supports Win 10 IoT, Windows 11 and Linux.

Embedded systems face unique and often rigorous demands. This is especially common in environments that are rife with airborne contaminants like dust, debris, and moisture and where maintaining optimal temperature control is difficult. In such settings, the limitations of conventional computing systems may have a severe impact on the reliability of their performance if they aren’t properly protected.

To remedy this, industrial devices like the Nuvo-9650AWP from Neousys are built with robust protection for their delicate components against harmful external contaminants and temperature fluctuations. Its design is optimised to ensure consistent, reliable performance in challenging industrial conditions, meeting the demands of harsh environments head-on.

How does it achieve this?

Durable Waterproof Performance

Able to be powered by Intel’s 12th, 13th or 14th Gen Core processor, the Nuvo-9650AWP is an IP66-rated, cost-effective industrial computer. The IP66 rating is part of the Ingress Protection rating system, which defines the level of protection a device has against environmental factors such as dust and water. In particular, a device that is IP66 certified is rated as highly resistant to both dust and powerful water jets, making it ideal for use in harsh or demanding environments such as those present in industrial applications. The Nuvo-9650AWP is protected thanks to its waterproof chassis and can operate in temperatures from -25°C to +70°C.

It features MIL-STD-910H shock and vibration certification for in-vehicle installation and military surroundings and an 8V to 48V wide-range DC input, supporting ignition power control. On top of this, it’s also versatile, with various I/O options that are designed with waterproof external sockets, including:

  • 3x 2.5Gb and 1x Gb Ethernet ports.
  • 1x waterproof USB 3.2 Type-C port.
  • Isolated RS-232 and RS-422/485 ports.

Adaptable and Affordable for Every Project

The Nuvo-9650AWP is highly adaptable and cost-effective, engineered to meet a wide range of demanding applications. It features a 4-port Power over Ethernet (PoE) model, allowing for connectivity with various PoE devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, and industrial sensors.

Combining ruggedness with performance, it’s designed to be durable in heavy weather conditions—but its rugged architecture isn’t the only highlight. In addition to its resilience, its competitive price point provides the capabilities of a high-end waterproof industrial PC without the excessive cost. With a device that can weather the storm and therefore require less maintenance to survive its environment, it delivers affordable total cost of ownership (TCO) for budget-conscious projects.
