Antenova launches Dolo, a high efficiency surface mount antenna for all 2.4GHz applications.

Hatfield, UK – Antenova Ltd, the UK-based manufacturer of antennas and RF antenna modules for  M2M and the IoT (Internet of Things) has added a new surface mount antenna developed for 2.4GHz applications. The new antenna is named Dolo, part number SR4W089.

Dolo offers high efficiency of 76% in 2.45GHz band applications. This enables data connectivity over  longer ranges than a simple trace design on the host PCB.

Designed to maximize range for a small product on a PCB, Dolo utilizes a ground plane to radiate  efficiently in 2.4GHz applications such as Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi ® (802.11a/b/g/n), and ZigBee®. This  surface mount component measures 7.5 x 4.0 x 0.9mm and requires a small clearance area of 7.5 x  6mm.

Enhanced performance and long-range reach, this surface mount antenna has an operating  temperature range from -40C to 125C. The peak gain is 3.8dBi with an average gain of -1.2dB.  Maximum return loss is -10.6dB respectively, with maximum VSWR at 1.8:1.

Dolo offers three placement options – center, right and left. Optimal performance is in center or left hand side placement. The required minimum clearance area around the antenna is critical to the  performance and must be applied through all four layers of PCB. Dolo offers a companion evaluation  PCB (SR4W089-EVB-1) for internal analysis.

The compact size and clearance area are ideal for wearables such as fitness/wellness trackers,  medical devices, as well as wireless sensor networks, IoT (Internet of Things), and Smart Cities/Smart  Grid applications.

Antenova is committed to helping customers integrate embedded antennas into devices of all kinds  and provides consultancy and testing services and a choice of online tools and calculators to help  designers achieve a successful integration and a high-performance wireless device.
