American Society for Artificial Intelligence (ASFAI) Announces Newly Elected 2025 Board and Leadership at Semi-Annual Summit

Sonoma, CA – December 10, 2024 – The American Society for Artificial Intelligence (ASFAI) proudly announces the election of its 2025 Board of Directors and leadership team during its semi-annual gathering at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. This esteemed event brought together leading minds in AI to further ASFAI’s mission of advancing American leadership in AI for the global good.

Elected by ASFAI’s distinguished members to serve on the Board for a two-year term are:

  • Paul Daugherty – Senior Advisor and former Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Accenture

  • Elizabeth Ngonzi – CEO at the International Social Impact Institute

  • Matthew Guggemos – Chief Operating Officer at iTherapy

  • Dr. Miguel Paredes – Venture Partner at The Silicon Foundry and AI Fund Fellow at AI Fund

  • Will Hatcher – AI Storyteller and Comedian, 2024 inductee into TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in AI

Additionally, Dr. Aaron Poynton has been appointed as Chairman of the Board, and Dr. Paritosh Ambekar will serve as Vice-Chairman and Director of Strategic Initiatives. Terry Virts, former NASA astronaut and International Space Station commander, has been appointed Global Ambassador. In this role, Virts will lead ASFAI’s international initiatives, working closely with global partners to promote AI innovation and responsible governance worldwide.

Rei Llazani, President of ASFAI, expressed optimism about the organization’s trajectory with the newly elected leadership: “Our 2025 Board is composed of exceptional leaders who each bring unique perspectives and a shared commitment to ASFAI’s vision of a world transformed by AI. Under their guidance, ASFAI will continue to be the premier platform where top AI innovators and influencers come together to shape the future.”
