Silicon Cloud Integrates StarNet’s FastX with Industry’s First Cloud-based IC Design Platform

San Francisco, CA – June 8, 2015 – DAC 2015:  StarNet Communications Corp, (http://www.starnet.com/) a leading publisher of remote Linux desktop solutions announced its FastX remote Linux display solution was chosen by Silicon Cloud International to be integrated with its breakthrough cloud-based IC design infrastructure.

The Silicon Cloud system is a turn-key IC design platform that provides a secure, cloud-based semiconductor design infrastructure provisioned with the latest semiconductor process technologies, production grade reference workflows, semiconductor IP, and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software.

Silicon Cloud needed a browser-based secure UI model to enable engineers to use remote-hosted Linux Gnome desktops for semiconductor design. The Silicon Cloud architecture required a virtual desktop rendering engine that provided high performance for 2D/3D graphics and superior compression for remote cloud access. A highly secure access authentication model was also required.

“Silicon Cloud is revolutionizing the current inefficient semiconductor design infrastructure, by developing and deploying modern cloud technologies. StarNet’s FastX provided a perfectly aligned strategic product that met all of our requirements,” said Mojy Chian, Silicon Cloud’s Chief Executive Officer.

FastX is the only remote Linux display solution that includes a desktop and a browser-based client in a single product.  The browser client offers secure display of remote Linuxs desktop inside a standard PC Web Browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

“Universities and IC companies alike have been unable to collaborate on semiconductor designs due to incompatible workflows, different EDA tool environments, IP security concerns and complexity in setting up common design environments. Silicon Cloud addresses these issues with its cloud-based, secure semiconductor workflow platform,” said Chian.

While Cloud-based IC design has been a hot topic in the semiconductor industry, what was missing was a stable, fast and secure way to display heavy-duty graphics applications by way of the browser.  “FastX is the enabler for cloud-based IC design,” said Steven Schoch, StarNet’s Chief Executive Officer

Machine Learning on the Edge
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Infineon
Edge machine learning is a great way to allow embedded devices to run applications that can collect sensor data and locally process that data. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Clark Jarvis from Infineon explore how the IMAGIMOB Studio, ModusToolbox™ Software, and PSoC and AURIX™ microcontrollers can help you develop a custom machine learning on the edge application from scratch. They also investigate how the IMAGIMOB Studio can help you easily develop and deploy AI/ML models and the benefits that the PSoC™ 6 Artificial Intelligence Evaluation Kit will bring to your next machine learning on the edge application design process.
