Avnet Electronics Marketing Adds Its Inventory to New Electronic Components Industry Association Part Search Website

Atlanta, GA and Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) August 16, 2011 — The Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) announced today that Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc., will be granting access to its inventory on the association’s new inventory search site, http://www.eciaauthorized.com. Only inventory from authorized distributors is displayed on the site — the first of its kind to be industry-owned and managed.

Avnet Electronics Marketing connects more than 300 of the world’s leading technology manufacturers with a broad base of customers providing cost-effective value-added services and solutions. Its extensive product line includes: amplifiers, batteries, capacitors, circuit protectors, discretes, displays, filters, interconnects, lighting, logic, memory, motors, optoelectronics, peripherals, power management, resistors, sensors, switches and relays.

ECIA’s new part search website is a key component of the association’s fight against counterfeit parts, providing customers with a secure location to find authorized products. The site “only lists inventory that is genuine and backed by the manufacturer’s warranty,” said ECIA President Robin Gray.

”The results of buying counterfeit parts can be detrimental to every phase of product development,” said Beth Ely, vice president of Avnet Express, the e-Commerce engine of Avnet Electronics Marketing. “We chose to offer our products via the ECIA website to curtail buying on the gray market which puts our mutual customers at potential risk. Now an even greater number of customers have access to Avnet’s catalog of world-class electronics components and embedded solutions.”

Search results on http://www.eciaauthorized.com are drawn from participating distributors and displayed at random, based on search match and availability. This is a major difference from some search sites, which are influenced by advertising expenditures or sponsorships.

While inventory searches will be handled on the association website, sales will be completed through each distributor’s private site. Avnet orders will be placed through Avnet’s secure e-Commerce portal,http://www.avnetexpress.com. This is another benefit to users in that it eliminates the possibility of purchase data being captured and shared by unauthorized third parties.
