New COM-Express Compact Module Targets Low Power Performance Applications

Aug, 09, 2011, Irvine, California – Advantech, a global embedded computing leader providing embedded platform solutions across multiple vertical markets through deployment of intelligent applications and services, proudly announces the release of SOM-6763 B1 – COM-Express compact module powered by the Intel® Atom™ Processors 400 and 500 Series. The new B1 version module with Intel® Atom™ processor N455 (512K Cache, 1.66GHz) and Intel® Atom™ processor D525 (1M Cache, 1.80 GHz) migrates its memory from DDR2 to DDR3 along with both 18-bit and 24-bit LVDS. SOM-6763 B1 is ideal for portable devices, medical equipment and rugged applications.

COM R2.0 Type 2 Compliant for Low Power Consumption and Performance

SOM-6763 B1 is the first COM module compliant with COM R2.0 type 2 specification for customers targeting lower power consumption, higher performance applications. The compact design (95 x 95 mm) is suitable for applications such as portable POS, transportation, entry-level gaming machines, patient monitoring, and factory automation. SOM-6763 B1 allows customers to choose from 18-bit or 24-bit LVDS which makes available a greater variety of displays to choose from.

New Generation Intel Atom Platform with DDR3 Memory

SOM-6763 B1 inherits a compact form factor, software utility support, and all-in-one solution advantage from the A1 version. Most importantly, SOM-6763 B1 upgrades its memory from DDR2 to DDR3. The Intel N455 and D525 processor has been upgraded to support DDR3 with better performance over DDR2 and incorporates better energy saving technology. With DDR3 memory, SOM-6763 B1 provides customers with higher computing speeds and better performance at the same time.

Reinforced with the New Advantech iManager 2.0

Advantech iManager provides a valuable suite of programmable APIs such as Multi-level Watchdog, Hardware Monitor, Smart Fan and more; all with user friendly interfaces following the EAPI 1.0 standard. Since this is a built-in solution on chip, iManager ensures functions operate even if the OS fails. It also helps enhance system stability and compatibility with power sequence control, and reduces effort on carrier board design and platform migration. SOM-6763 B1 is available now, contact your local sales or visit the website for more details.

Features:

  • PICMG COM R2.0 compliant module for Intel® Atom™ Processors 400 and 500 Series
  • Supports 18-bit and 24-bit LVDS and rich I/O: 5 PCIe x1, 4 PCI masters, 3 SATA II, 8 USB 2.0, EIDE, GbE
