Freescale Semiconductor and QNX Software Systems expand relationship for QorIQ and PowerQUICC processors

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Freescale Technology Forum 2011) – June 22, 2011 – QNX Software Systems Limited, a global leader in operating systems and middleware for connected embedded systems, and embedded processing leader Freescale Semiconductor [NYSE: FSL], have agreed to collaborate on the development of solutions for Freescale’s industry-leading QorlQ and PowerQUICC processor families. The companies intend to share IP, invest jointly in product and technology roadmaps, and work together on go-to-market activities.

Joint development will initially focus on the use of QNX® operating system software, middleware, development tools, and engineering services to create solutions for the medical, industrial automation and general embedded markets. The collaboration is expected to produce pre-integrated and optimized solutions that deliver new levels of QNX software performance, ease-of-use, and energy efficiency for Freescale’s QorlQ and PowerQUICC processors.

QNX Software Systems’ flagship product, the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS, is recognized globally for its performance and reliability.
