IAR Systems Integrates Subversion

Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA—May 3, 2011—IAR Systems® announced today that one of the most popular version control systems on the market, Subversion, has been integrated in IAR Embedded Workbench®. The integration allows users to perform Subversion commands from within the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE, and to see the current status of project files and folders. Integration of version control systems into the IDE greatly simplifies the development process for sharing files in a project, and for keeping track of source code versions.

“We have seen an increasing number of requests from our customers to integrate Subversion in IAR Embedded Workbench, and we have responded to this” said Mats Ullström, Product Director IAR Systems. “Ease-of-use is one of our design principles for IAR Embedded Workbench. Integrating Subversion helps our users with versions control just where they need it.”

Version control systems are used in almost all software development projects. While the average embedded project is larger today than just a few years ago in terms of lines of source code and number of team members, it becomes increasingly important to keep source files, documentation and other files organized. This puts stronger requirements on the version control system being used, and the integration with other development tools.

IAR Embedded Workbench is a set of reliable and powerful C and C++ tools for building and debugging embedded system software for embedded systems. It provides a user friendly integrated development environment including a project manager, editor, build tools and debugger. In a continuous workflow, source files and projects can be created, built and debugged on hardware or in a simulator.

The Subversion integration is currently available in IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM version 6.20, and more targets will follow as new versions are released. Evaluation versions of IAR Embedded Workbench are available at www.iar.com/downloads.
