BEAVERTON, Ore., April 12, 2011 – Tektronix, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, today announced two new versions of its performance oscilloscope families ranging from 500 MHz to 8 GHz designed to help embedded system design engineers troubleshoot their designs faster than ever before. The new offerings include the DPO7000C Series and new 4-, 6- and 8-GHz models in the MSO/DPO/DSA70000C Series. The company also announced its expanded support for MIPI testing with new serial decode solutions for MIPI® Alliance’s CSI-2 and DSI specifications.
These new Tektronix instruments reflect the new reality of electronics design: engineering teams have less time to design products than before, while each engineer’s area of responsibility is increasing. Given the rapid pace of innovation, they simply lack the time to become experts in all areas. As a result, they must increasingly rely on test tools to provide time saving features that allow them to confidently find and solve complex problems.
“The new series of oscilloscopes we’re announcing today provide industry leading tools to speed debug efforts of serial buses found in many embedded system designs,” said Roy Siegel, general manager, Oscilloscopes, Tektronix. “We continue to provide industry-best solutions – such as MIPI serial analysis – to meet the latest challenges. And, we continue to drive innovation on our most popular scopes to support the latest architectures and deliver the comprehensive tools our customers need.”
DPO7000C Series
The DPO7000C Series offers engineers an efficiency tool that combines analysis functionality for many applications into a single oscilloscope. It includes time-saving serial analysis solutions that enable designers to focus on solving design problems using robust tools for every stage of debug, from discovering that a problem exists to capturing it, then searching long records for all instances and analyzing to find root cause. With tools like the One Touch Jitter Wizard, even the most complex testing tasks are simplified and automated.
The new series are now available with the latest Microsoft Windows 7 operating system for easier integration with data networks, intuitive operation and faster boot up times. These products also feature a faster compute platform that provides quicker time to answer – up to 3x faster time to answer on DPOJET Jitter measurements for example. They also provide full LXI Class C support for easier integration into automated test stations.
DPO7000C Series offers the industry’s most comprehensive serial bus analysis with robust
decode, trigger and search support for the most popular embedded system buses including I2C, SPI, RS-232/422/485/UART, USB 2.0, MIPI CSI-2 and DSI specifications.
New MSO/DPO/DSA70000C Models
The MSO/DPO/DSA70000C Series provides a deeper level of analysis on the most perplexing challenges in high-performance design and verification for RF/microwave, serial data and semiconductor characterization. This comprehensive high-performance platform supports trigger, decode and search capability for popular embedded system buses along with high speed timing analysis and compliance packages for standards including DDR3, USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0 and others.
For embedded engineers that require performance beyond the 3.5 GHz available in the DPO7000C, the new 4-, 6- and 8- GHz models of the MSO/DPO/DSA70000C Series represent the ideal fit. The latest models incorporate a new, faster compute platform, deliver LXI Class C compliance and use the Windows 7 operating system.
For the MSO70000C Series, new P6750 logic probes offer high density DMAXTM footprint signal access on up to 16 logic channels. Improved debug capability with Advanced Search & Mark, along with DPOJET Essentials are now standard on all instruments.
Expanded MIPI Support
MIPI® Alliance specifications are gaining in use by manufacturers of wireless mobile devices as the communications bus between main components such as embedded controllers, cameras and displays. These specifications help smartphone manufacturers reduce time-to-market and device integration costs while taking advantage of richer feature sets with higher bit rates.
Tektronix now offers expanded support for the MIPI specifications with protocol decode and search for MIPI CSI-2 and DSI serial buses. This complements the broad range of testing capability for the emerging MIPI Alliance test requirements including MIPI D-PHY and MIPI M-PHY support on Tektronix DPO7000C & MSO/DPO/DSA70000C Series oscilloscopes. Tektronix is also announcing a TekExpress automation toolset for 100%one-button compliance testing of MIPI D-PHY TX measurements. In addition, Tektronix also provides DigRFv.4 logic testing with TLA7000 Series Logic Analyzers.
“Testing is a critical component to the adoption and mass deployment of any specification,” said Joel Huloux, Chairman of the Board of MIPI Alliance. “Having numerous products and services – such as these from Tektronix – improves time-to-market for companies wishing to implement MIPI specifications.”
Pricing & Availability
DPO7000C series and 4-, 6- and 8-GHz MSO/DPO/DSA70000C series oscilloscopes and MIPI CSI-2 and DSI-1 support will be available globally beginning April 12. Pricing starts at $17,700 US MSRP for the DPO7000C.
