Mentor Graphics and Carbon Design Systems Partner for Model Distribution

ACTON, MASS. –– April 5, 2011 –– Carbon Design Systems™, the leading supplier of solutions for architectural analysis, performance optimization and pre-silicon firmware debug, and Mentor Graphics Corporation announced today the availability of Mentor’s 8051 microcontroller family on Carbon’s IP Exchange web portal.

These models are 100% accurate and feature a link with the Keil™ µVision® IDE and debugger by ARM® to enable interactive software debug.

Accurate Models Speed Development Schedule

“The 8051 remains a widely used microcontroller,” stated Bill Neifert, chief technical officer at Carbon Design Systems.  “They are often used in designs that have tight time-to-market pressures and can ship in massive volumes.  By partnering with Mentor and a joint customer to deliver Carbonized versions of the 8051 microcontroller, we are enabling designers to develop their firmware and ROM code in advance of silicon availability and shorten their development schedules.”

About the Models

Carbon’s models of the 8051, 8051W and 8051EW microcontrollers from Mentor are compiled directly from the implementation register transfer level (RTL) code.  These models integrate directly with Carbon’s SoC Designer Plus virtual platform and can also execute in any leading RTL simulator.  Each model can be interactively debugged using a direct integration with Keil’s uVision Debugger.  Each model also integrates directly with Mentor’s Questa Codelink to further simplify debug.

Immediate Availability

Models of the Mentor Graphics 8051, 8051W and 8051EW are available today from Carbon’s IP Exchange web portal: www.carbonipexchange.com.
