6WIND and ADI Engineering Team Up for High-Performance Packet Processing Platforms

March 29, 2011 – PARIS, France and Charlottesville, VA – 6WIND, the leading provider of commercial packet processing solutions, and ADI Engineering, the Open IP ODM and a leading supplier of hardware platforms for embedded networking and embedded Intel® Architecture technology, today announced a partnership to provide high-performance packet processing platforms for networking and telecom applications. The companies will work together to integrate the 6WINDGate™ packet processing software with ADI’s Intel® Architecture-based ATCA and AMC boards, resulting in optimized off-the-shelf solutions ideal for networking and telecom OEMs.

For those OEMs who prefer to purchase pre-packed hardware-software solutions for minimum time-to-market, ADI will sell boards with 6WINDGate binaries pre-installed along with the operating system. Other OEMs, looking to differentiate their products through custom networking software, will purchase 6WINDGate source licenses from 6WIND, for maximum flexibility in their own software development process.

“We are delighted to announce this partnership with ADI,” said Eric Carmès, CEO of 6WIND. “The 6WINDGate software provides proven performance advantages for networking and telecom systems, so we look forward to delivering it as part of ADI’s Intel® Architecture-based products.”

“With the newly announced partnership, 6WIND and ADI are eagerly bringing to market leading-edge packet processing solutions based on next-generation Intel® Architecture processors,” said Steve Yates, President, Founder and CTO of ADI Engineering.  “This new partnership is yet another enabler of Intel® Architecture’s rapid transformation into a high-performance data plane processing technology.”

Quantized Neural Networks for FPGA Inference

Sponsored by Intel

Implementing a low precision network in FPGA hardware for efficient inferencing provides numerous advantages when it comes to meeting demanding specifications. The increased flexibility allows optimization of throughput, overall power consumption, resource usage, device size, TOPs/watt, and deterministic latency. These are important benefits where scaling and efficiency are inherent requirements of the application.
