PCM-9363 3.5” SBC – New Intel® Atom™ N455/D525 Single/Dual Core with DDR3 & DC Power Protection

March, 04, 2011, Irvine, California –Advantech, a global embedded computing leader providing embedded platform solutions across multiple vertical markets through deployment of intelligent applications and services, today announced the arrival of a new 3.5” SBC using the latest Intel technology: PCM-9363 with Intel® Atom™ N455 1.66 GHz and the dual core D525 1.8 GHz processors with ICH8M chipset. The processors integrate DDR3 memory supporting up to 4 GB capacity for D525 and 2GB capacity for N455, and graphic controller supporting Intel Gen 3.5, DirectX 9.0c , and MPEG2 hardware decoder. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) rating including processor and ICH8M chipset is only 9 Watts for the N455, and 13 Watts for the D525, further enabling power reductions, smaller systems, and performance improvements.

Highly Reliable Design for Embedded Applications

PCM-9363 features a single 12V DC power input design which makes it easier for power integration. PCM-9363 also supports a DC power hot-plug protection design which can protect unstable DC voltage spikes from damaging the board. To be more reliable and endure extreme environments, Advantech’s PCM-9363 was designed with a high level industrial grade ESD COM port driver IC (15KV air protection/8KV contact protection for RS-232), 100% solid capacitors with better MTBF compared with electrolytic capacitors, and TG-150 PCB type that allows the PCB to endure higher temperatures.

18/24-bit LVDS with HDMI or CRT Support

PCM-9363 features 18/24-bit LVDS and HDMI display capability. 24-bit LVDS panel support is typical these days and common on most LCD panels. HDMI on PCM-9363 supports a HD upscaling function up to 1920 x 1080p pixel resolution, and VGA is also supported for embedded applications.

Compact Design Makes System Integration Easier

PCM-9363 was designed to be compact and low profile. The total height, from the top to the bottom of the board, including fanless heatsink on the Intel Atom N455 CPU is only around 31 mm. The total height including low-profile cooler on the Intel Atom D525 dual core processor is around 35 mm, making it suitable for a 1U chassis designs. Advantech also provides an optional thermal solution; a heat spreader that facilitates compact chassis designs with excellent thermal results. Even using the Intel D525 dual core processor, the system could be designed as fanless, making system integration easier than ever.

Software API and Embedded OS

Advantech provides an API suite called SUSI, which stands for Secure & Unified Smart Interface, and which includes: GPIO, SMBus, GPIO, watchdog timer, H/W monitor, brightness on/off, CPU speed and system throttling utilities. SUSI API’s make it quicker and easier to integrate and configure hardware with software applications. PCM-9363 supports Windows 7/ WES7/ XP/ XPe/ Windows CE 6.0, Vxworks 6.8 and QNX6.5 operating systems.PCM-9363 is suitable for many kinds of general purpose applications such as: POS/ KIOSK, medical, factory automation, transportation, entry-level gaming machines, and security and surveillance, amongst others.

Features:

PCM-9363 supports up to 4 GB of DDR3 800 memory, and comes with full I/O functions:

  • 24-bit LVDS/1080P (up scaling) HDMI or VGA display
  • DC power hot plug protection design
  • Dual 10/100/1000 Mbps LANs (Intel 82567V and Intel 82583V)
  • HD audio interface
  • Industrial grade ESD COM port driver IC on RS-232 (15 KV air protection/8 KV contact protection)
