Saelig Introduces SuperSpeed USB3.0 to SATAII Bridge Controller

Pittsford, NY, USA:  Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has introduced the PL2771 – a single-chip SuperSpeed USB3.0 to SATAII compliant bridge controller that is designed to perform seamless data transfer between USB3.0 and SATAII devices, supporting the latest USB3.0 SuperSpeed 5Gb/s transfer rates. SuperSpeed USB 3.0(5Gb/s) delivers ten times the performance of Hi-Speed USB 2.0(480Mb/s) while offering compatibility with all USB-enabled PCs and peripheral devices – fully backward compatible to all USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 hosts.  PL2771 can operate under SuperSpeed, Hi-Speed, and Full-Speed USB connections. It also contains an internal embedded high performance 8-bit microcontroller that can be used to support versatile system applications such as one button backup, power control, and other features for USB connection. The PL2771 is implemented with a USB Mass Storage Class driver and the latest UASP driver.

Packaged as a 48-pin QFN or 64-pin LQFP device, the PL2771 uses a 30MHz reference clock and is hot-plug Serial ATA Rev.2.6 compliant. Its ultra-low power internal core is designed in 0.13um silicon and runs on 1.2V to keep power consumption to a minimum, although I/O lines operate at 3.3V. Twelve multi-function general purpose I/O (GPIO) pins can be programmed for USB-speed LED, button inputs, or other special functions using the available software development kit. Onboard firmware is upgradeable through the USB interface.  PL2771 also supports a PWM interface and a generic SPI/I2C master/slave interface.

The PL2771’s internal data buffer optimizes downstream and upstream data transfer performance, and it supports greater than 2-Terabyte/4KB-sector Hard Drives with USB3.0/USB2.0/SATA Power Saving Management.

Target Applications include USB 3.0 external HDD/SSD/ODD, portable media players, SATA port multipliers, etc. and a demonstration board is available for development purposes.

PL2771 is manufactured by Prolific Technology Inc., a leading Taiwan IC design house, and is available now from their USA distributor Saelig Company at under $10 (2K qty). 1-888-7SAELIG  info@saelig.com   www.saelig.com

Quantized Neural Networks for FPGA Inference

Sponsored by Intel

Implementing a low precision network in FPGA hardware for efficient inferencing provides numerous advantages when it comes to meeting demanding specifications. The increased flexibility allows optimization of throughput, overall power consumption, resource usage, device size, TOPs/watt, and deterministic latency. These are important benefits where scaling and efficiency are inherent requirements of the application.
