Embedded World 2011

Where:

Messe Nuremberg, Hall 12, Stand 515

When:

March 1-3, 2011

Exhibits:

Tuesday, March 1 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, March 2 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, March 3 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) today announced its participation in Embedded World, Nuremberg, from March 1-3, 2011, Hall 12, Stand 515. Xilinx will showcase its Targeted Design Platforms for embedded processing, DSP, high-speed connectivity, industrial and automotive applications. The market-specific platforms leverage the inherent flexibility and scalability of Xilinx devices, and minimize design risks for automotive driver assistance and information systems, as well as industrial networking, energy efficient motor and embedded processing systems.

Xilinx market-specific Targeted Design Platforms integrate the latest hardware, software, and IP innovations running on flexible Xilinx FPGA silicon. These platforms allow designers to start development right out of the box, eliminating the time traditionally needed to bring up prototype hardware.

Xilinx will also demonstrate its Extensible Processing Platform.

Motor control

The Targeted Design Platform for Motor Control is based on the Xilinx(R) Spartan(R)-6 FPGA SP605 Evaluation Kit and provides all the building blocks needed to begin prototyping an intelligent drive control system. It features Xilinx motor control systems and industrial networking IP from Bosch and Beckhoff. The Spartan-6 FPGA hosts dedicated networking and motor control IP blocks operating alongside an on-chip MicroBlaze(TM) processor running application-specific software. MicroBlaze is a 32-bit customizable processor that can be implemented fully in the FPGA fabric using Xilinx soft IP. Customers starting with this platform can integrate multiple control and communication functions on a single FPGA board, while retaining the flexibility to enhance performance and connectivity as future system demands evolve.

Ethernet Powerlink

The Xilinx Targeted Design Platform for Ethernet will also be showcased at Embedded World. Comprised of programmable hardware, third-party software from Xilinx Alliance Member B&R, and a complete reference design, this platform reduces the time and resources needed for OEMs and engineers to produce fully functioning designs. The included daughter card supports multiple real-time industrial Ethernet protocols and legacy serial connectivity, as well as Xilinx ISE(R) Design Suite: Embedded Edition. This platform provides well defined hardware that enables Xilinx to deliver robust and fully developed IP, which customers can use straight from the box.

Automotive

Automotive driver assistance and information systems increasingly require advanced image processing and graphic display options. The Xilinx Driver Assistance Surround View Targeted Design Platformsupports the productive development of these systems. It can process multiple camera inputs, where four cameras can be used for a surround view system, or decoupled into multiple systems, including rear view parking and blind spot detection. Different applications can be programmed into the same device. For example, back-up operations and forward blind-spot detection using the same cameras, sensor and other electronics can be repurposed for each task. Scalable embedded 3D graphics based on the Infotainment Companion Chip Development Platform provide a parameteriseable solution for implementing low-cost, resource-constrained systems. With the logi3D IP core from Premier Xilinx Alliance Member Xylon serving as the 3D graphics engine, developers can integrate their own and other third party IP to customize their systems.

Quantized Neural Networks for FPGA Inference

Sponsored by Intel

Implementing a low precision network in FPGA hardware for efficient inferencing provides numerous advantages when it comes to meeting demanding specifications. The increased flexibility allows optimization of throughput, overall power consumption, resource usage, device size, TOPs/watt, and deterministic latency. These are important benefits where scaling and efficiency are inherent requirements of the application.
