Advantech Announces New ATCA Platform Integration Services To Accelerate Network Solutions Development

Irvine, California, February 18, 2011 – Advantech, a global manufacturer of telecom computing blades and multi-core network processor platforms, today announced new ATCA Platform Integration Services at Mobile World Congress 2011 and RSA 2011. With these services, Advantech can create customized ATCA platforms to meet the application-specific needs of Telecom Equipment Manufacturers and Network Solution Providers. The Advantech ATCA Platform Integration Service delivers cost-optimized platform solutions utilizing blade and platform technology from Advantech as well as 3rd party hardware and software.

“Advantech’s proven expertise in developing ATCA platforms based on industry-leading architectures is now available to equipment providers who wish to focus their R&D investment on their application added-value,” stated Paul Stevens, Telecom Sector Marketing Director for Advantech’s Networks and Telecom Group.  “Having Advantech deliver fully integrated and certified platforms not only reduces our customer’s development time, it also allows them to allocate a larger percentage of their R&D budget to their own vertical market value-added development.”

Advantech works closely with a strong global ecosystem network of hardware and software vendors, including chipset, board, chassis, operation system and middleware in addition to its own product development.  Ecosystem partners are selected based upon project, technology, logistic and geographic requirements. This same ecosystem will be utilized and extended by the ATCA Platform Integration Service team to provide highly optimized customer-specific solutions.

“Advantech has been providing rack mountable systems such as network servers, appliances and innovative Packetarium systems to the networking and telecom industry for years. It is a logical extension of our system’s offering to include ATCA platform integration given Advantech’s dedication to delivering the same technologies and services across different platforms,” stated Franz Wei, VP of Advantech. “Today we are offering the broadest choice of multi-core products for networking applications. With the ability to deliver these technologies in different form factors at building block and system levels, we add another dimension to the term scalability – providing our customers with platforms to meet price/performance points and environmental requirements from the network core to edge.”

“This new integration service will allow our customers to successfully face the challenges of converging networks and increasing bandwidth demand,” continued Wei. “They will see improvements in time to market through software re-use across platforms and a reduction of total cost of ownership as maintenance and test efforts will be reduced.”

“These new services along with the global supply, logistics management and support capabilities of Advantech are now available to our customers through the ATCA Platform Integration Service,” concluded Stevens. “Customers, ranging from those building their 1st ATCA-based product to larger, experienced providers who need to extend their ATCA capabilities, can now benefit from our global reach with a local touch to accelerate the development of innovative ATCA-based network solutions. Small and mid-size companies should benefit especially from our global logistics. Our service and integration centers in Europe, USA and Asia will help them to solve logistic challenges.”

Advantech is demonstrating a broad range of multi-core blade and platform solutions in Booth 217 at the RSA 2011 Conference 14-18 February in Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, USA, and in Hall 2.0, Booth 2G38 at Mobile World Congress 2011, 14-17 February in Barcelona, Spain.
