Empress Unveils Android SDK for Database Application Development

Beltsville, MD, February 15, 2011 – Empress Software, developers of the robust, agile Empress Embedded Database, unveils Empress SDK for Android, a new software development kit for the development of advanced database applications running on Android.  As applications for mobile devices are increasingly sophisticated, so are the data demands.  Empress SDK for Android addresses the ever-growing need for more powerful, reliable and efficient database Android applications.

Developers building application programs for Android, Google’s popular mobile device operating system, develop primarily in Java.  App developers write Java code via Google-developed Java libraries through a Dalvik Virtual Machine.  Empress SDK for Android supports well known, industry open database access standard JDBC API.  It helps developers create new database applications or migrate existing database applications to Android quickly with minimal effort.

“Empress SDK for Android answers the growing need for a robust, embeddable database for mobile devices running Android,” states John Kornatowski, president of Empress Software.  “We all want data at our fingertips.  From our smart phones to our tablets, these every day devices can be data powerhouses when powered by proper database applications.  Empress SDK for Android is the database power tool for the development of data rich, Android applications.”

Quantized Neural Networks for FPGA Inference

Sponsored by Intel

Implementing a low precision network in FPGA hardware for efficient inferencing provides numerous advantages when it comes to meeting demanding specifications. The increased flexibility allows optimization of throughput, overall power consumption, resource usage, device size, TOPs/watt, and deterministic latency. These are important benefits where scaling and efficiency are inherent requirements of the application.
