Advantech Accelerates Network Platform Evolution with Multi-core Solution Innovations for Security Applications at RSA 2011

Irvine, California, February 15, 2011 – Advantech a global manufacturer of telecom computing blades and multi-core network processor platforms, will showcase several new products at the RSA Conference 2011 in San Francisco.  Advantech will demonstrate multi-core solutions that are available in a range of form factors, including fanless entry-level x86 systems through to cost-optimized Packetarium and high-end ATCA-based platforms.

“Our solutions are ideal for Unified Threat Management (UTM) and other security application OEMs that are facing scalability and throughput challenges and wish to protect their software investment,” stated Eddie Lai, director of business development at Advantech’s Networks and Telecom Group.  “The new products we are demonstrating at RSA illustrate Advantech’s expertise in the application of multi-core technology across multiple architectures. This enables our customers to select the best architecture and price point for their, small-to-medium sized business (SMB), enterprise and datacenter security solutions.”

The demonstrations at RSA 2011 will be focused on two areas critical to equipment manufacturers, performance and time-to-market.

Accelerating Network Performance

Advantech’s multi-core solutions are leading the industry transformation to networking platforms that offer higher performance, increased scalability and reliability, all at lower costs.

For entry-level security solutions, Advantech will demonstrate the FWA-1305 and FWA-3305 Network Appliances based on low-power x86 single and dual-core processors.

“The FWA-1305 fanless tabletop appliance brings the best price-performance available today to the entry level x86 network security market,” stated Lai.  “OEMs seeking improved reliability, scalability and a competitive cost advantage for their SMB solutions can now benefit from these powerful, but low power consumption, Internet security platforms which are capable of meeting the entry-level demands of mainstream IDS/IPS, anti-virus, VPN gateway and UTM applications.”

For medium and enterprise-level solutions, Advantech will feature the recently announced Packetarium NCP-3120 rack mount Network Processor Platform using the Cavium 6-core OCTEON II CN6335 Internet Application Processor, the high-end NCP-7560 Packetarium Network Processor Platform and the FWA-6500 Network Server based on dual 6-core x86 server class processors.

“These powerful systems are capable of running the most demanding security applications, scaling up to enable solutions providers with Layer 2-7 Deep Packet Inspection at over 100Gbps throughput,” continued Lai.

Accelerating Time-to-Market

Advantech will also feature solutions from ecosystem partners at RSA.  A FWA-6500 Network Server running Wind River’s Network Acceleration Platform (NAP) will be demonstrated.

“Advantech blades and systems running proven commercial and carrier-grade software offers equipment manufacturers a development platform that eliminates time consuming integration steps in their product development cycle,” stated Lai.  “The ATCA systems at the show will preview our latest blades and new 40G switch technologies. With our latest offerings, Advantech is accelerating network platform evolution, lowering our customer’s development risks and improving their time-to-market.”

Advantech will be in Booth 217 at the RSA Conference, 14-18 February in Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, USA.
