World Leading Single Chip Multi-transcoder IC

Maldon, Essex – CML Microcircuits, (www.cmlmicro.com) a leading innovator and provider of low-power semiconductors for global wireless communications markets, has announced the launch of the world leading single chip G.711/G.729A/CVSD (speech compression) full duplex multi-transcoder device, the CMX7261.

Ideally suited for use in software-defined radio (SDR), voice-over IP (VoIP) applications, wireless private branch exchange (PBX) and privacy type digital voice communications to name just a few, the CMX7261 is a low risk solution developed by CML who, with many years of CVSD design experience, boasts an impressive track record in the tactical communications market.

With built in G.711, G.729A and CVSD algorithms, the CMX7261 is an incredibly flexible IC that creates toll quality speech for a great number of applications without sacrificing performance. Providing analogue to digital and digital to analogue conversion and with no additional DSP or programming, the CMX7261 guarantees quality audio and a very short time to market. The device is built upon CML’s FirmASIC® technology, providing a platform for potential future enhancement.

The function of speech compression is to produce a compact representation of speech sounds that when reconstructed sound as close to the original as possible. CML has developed a device that can achieve this goal for a number of applications and markets.

Other key features include voice activity detection, C-BUS host serial control/data interface, multiple choice of input and output sources, streaming transfers, four GPIO and encoder/decoder test mode support which allows verification of bit exactness and high audio quality for various supported codecs.

The CMX7261 operates from a 3.3V supply and includes selectable powersaving modes. It is available in a 64-VQFN package. Evaluation support is available via the PE0601-7261 EvKit.

High Power Charging Inlets
All major truck and bus OEMs will be launching electric vehicle platforms within the next few years and in order to keep pace with on-highway and off-highway EV innovation, our charging inlets must also provide the voltage, current and charging requirements needed for these vehicles. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Drew Reetz from TE Connectivity investigate charging inlet design considerations for the next generation of industrial and commercial transportation, the differences between AC only charging and fast charge and high power charging inlets, and the benefits that TE Connectivity’s ICT high power charging inlets bring to these kinds of designs.
