JamaicaVM 6 is now available for multicore systems

The aicas group will introduce the new multiprocessor version of the JamaicaVM hard realtime Java runtime environment at the Embedded World conference in Nuremberg Germany from 1-3 March 2011. It is based on the proven JamaicaVM 6 product, which supports the J2SE Java 6 standard classes. Memory management has been optimized to simultaneously run multiple realtime threads on different CPUs with minimal contention. The assignment of Java threads to specific processor cores can be handled by JamaicaVM or directly controlled by the user. Even applications that were not built for multiprocessor systems can benefit from JamaicaVM 6 Multicore by running memory management on a second processor core, removing this overhead from the actual application.

Andy Walter, Chief Operations Officer of aicas, thanks all its partners in the EU-funded JEOPARD project for their close cooperation and constructive criticism, which considerably aided aicas in its development. ?Without EADS, the OpenGroup, Skysoft, SYSGO, Radiolabs and the numerous other partners, this result would not have been possible.?

JamaicaVM 6 is available for an array of operating systems and processor architectures, including Linux, PikeOS, QNX, VxWorks and WindowsCE. By developing the multicore version of JamaicaVM, aicas can best support the increasing number of high-performance embedded systems. At the same time, the demand for realtime applications in server systems is growing, for example in automation and finance. JamaicaVM will continue to support single processor systems. In addition to realtime applications, JamaicaVM can be used for graphical user interfaces on Linux, OS-9, QNX, VxWorks, Windows CE, and supports Swing and OpenGL graphics inferfaces.

Machine Learning on the Edge
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Infineon
Edge machine learning is a great way to allow embedded devices to run applications that can collect sensor data and locally process that data. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Clark Jarvis from Infineon explore how the IMAGIMOB Studio, ModusToolbox™ Software, and PSoC and AURIX™ microcontrollers can help you develop a custom machine learning on the edge application from scratch. They also investigate how the IMAGIMOB Studio can help you easily develop and deploy AI/ML models and the benefits that the PSoC™ 6 Artificial Intelligence Evaluation Kit will bring to your next machine learning on the edge application design process.
