PLDA: Wintegra Incorporates PCI Express® IP in its WinPath3 Processors

PLDA’s quality design and Ease of migration from legacy PCI to PCI Express interface delivers the right blend of features for Wintegra’s third generation WinPath devices

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PLDA, the industry leader in the high-speed bus IP market, announced that Wintegra has chosen PLDA’s PCI Express IP for their latest WinPath3 processor. Wintegra, a leading provider of high performance connectivity solutions for wireless and wireline infrastructure applications, is utilizing PLDA’s PCI Express IP to provide PCI Express interconnect within its host controller, helping to enable throughput of up to 2.5 Gbps. The PLDA PCI Express IP is a high performance, silicon-proven solution for PCI Express Gen1 and Gen2 implementations at 130 nm and smaller geometries.

The WinIP3 is Wintegra’s first announced member of the WinPath3 65nm, high performance, low power, silicon family. The WinIP3 is the first generation of Wintegra solutions for the Carrier Grade Ethernet market. It is the first processor of its kind to break the $50 price barrier in high-performance configurations at up to 15 Million pps (packets per second), and is configured for a rich set of carrier-class features such as classification, policing, forwarding and shaping on many thousands of flows. WinPath3 devices offer performance over 5 times that of previous Wintegra processors and provide the foundation for next generation infrastructure products such as Metro Ethernet Access Devices, GPON OLT line cards, VDSL systems, and cell site aggregation.

According to Cam Witt, the WinPath3 program manager at Wintegra, “When designing our new WinPath3 family of devices, Wintegra is focused on quality as well as rock solid industry standard I/O implementations for our customers. We are pleased to be extending our PCI support in the previous family to now support PCI Express in the new WinPath3 family.”

“Wintegra products push the envelope in affordable, cutting edge design” commented Jean-Yves Brena, CEO of PLDA, “PLDA strives to create an interconnect product line, which includes PCI Express, USB3 and AMBA products, that will deliver the affordability and ease of integration required by leading companies like Wintegra.”
