Zarlink’s Timing over Packet Products Successfully Interoperate at ISPCS 2009 “Plug-fest”

Zarlink’s Timing over Packet (ToP) devices are interoperable with all equipment manufacturers using the latest IEEE 1588-2008 protocol

OTTAWA, CANADA, October 15, 2009 – Zarlink Semiconductor (TSX: ZL) today announced its portfolio of IEEE 1588 Timing over Packet (ToP) products successfully passed comprehensive interoperability testing with a range of equipment manufacturers. Independent testing was completed during “plug-fest” at the 2009 International IEEE Symposium on Precision Clock Synchronization (ISPCS) for Measurement, Control and Communication in Brescia, Italy.

Plug-fest is an opportunity for suppliers and manufacturers to demonstrate system-wide clock synchronization and operation of protocols across a wide spectrum of devices and equipment. Zarlink’s latest IEEE 1588 ToP devices, which allow timing and synchronization information to be carried directly over packet networks, were tested as part of the ISPCS plug-fest.

“Interoperability performance is a key milestone for both equipment manufacturers and network operators deploying next-generation wireless and wired networks,” said Jeremy Lewis, product line manager with Zarlink’s Timing and Synchronization product group. “Successful interoperability test results for our IEEE ToP products prove that our solutions comply with the latest standards, and are ready for wide-scale deployments.”

Machine Learning on the Edge
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Infineon
Edge machine learning is a great way to allow embedded devices to run applications that can collect sensor data and locally process that data. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Clark Jarvis from Infineon explore how the IMAGIMOB Studio, ModusToolbox™ Software, and PSoC and AURIX™ microcontrollers can help you develop a custom machine learning on the edge application from scratch. They also investigate how the IMAGIMOB Studio can help you easily develop and deploy AI/ML models and the benefits that the PSoC™ 6 Artificial Intelligence Evaluation Kit will bring to your next machine learning on the edge application design process.
