Silicon Cloud Integrates StarNet’s FastX with Industry’s First Cloud-based IC Design Platform

San Francisco, CA – June 8, 2015 – DAC 2015:  StarNet Communications Corp, (http://www.starnet.com/) a leading publisher of remote Linux desktop solutions announced its FastX remote Linux display solution was chosen by Silicon Cloud International to be integrated with its breakthrough cloud-based IC design infrastructure.

The Silicon Cloud system is a turn-key IC design platform that provides a secure, cloud-based semiconductor design infrastructure provisioned with the latest semiconductor process technologies, production grade reference workflows, semiconductor IP, and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software.

Silicon Cloud needed a browser-based secure UI model to enable engineers to use remote-hosted Linux Gnome desktops for semiconductor design. The Silicon Cloud architecture required a virtual desktop rendering engine that provided high performance for 2D/3D graphics and superior compression for remote cloud access. A highly secure access authentication model was also required.

FastX is the only remote Linux display solution that includes a desktop and a browser-based client in a single product.  The browser client offers secure display of remote Linuxs desktop inside a standard PC Web Browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

“Universities and IC companies alike have been unable to collaborate on semiconductor designs due to incompatible workflows, different EDA tool environments, IP security concerns and complexity in setting up common design environments. Silicon Cloud addresses these issues with its cloud-based, secure semiconductor workflow platform,” said Chian.
