PrismTech Announces the Availability of Vortex

IoT World, Palo Alto, CA, USA – June 17, 2014 – PrismTech™, a global leader in software platforms for distributed systems and Gartner ‘Cool Vendor,’ today announced that its new Vortex™ Intelligent Data-Sharing Platform will be available (upon request) as of July 14, 2014.  Vortex is targeted at business-critical Internet-of-Things (IoT) systems, sometimes also referred to as the Industrial Internet, Industrial IoT (IIoT) or Enterprise-grade IoT systems.

Vortex builds on proven technologies and open standards to provide an efficient solution for Device-to-Device and Device-to-Cloud system-wide interoperability in real-time.  It is a key enabler for systems that have to reliably and securely deliver high volumes of data with stringent end-to-end qualities-of-service (QoS); hence its suitability for business-critical and IIoT systems.

Vortex creates a system-wide global data space offering more than 20 configurable QoS to ensure the performance, efficiency, agility, security and robustness required of business-critical systems.  It thus helps system integrators, OEMs, device vendors and Cloud service providers deliver high-performance IoT system solutions for many vertical markets: Healthcare, IT&Networks, Energy, Transportation, Urban Environment and Industrial Automation, to name a few.

The Vortex platform includes components (software agents) to connect mobile phones and tablets (Vortex Café), connected sensors and machines (Vortex Lite), Cloud services (Vortex Cloud), browsers (Vortex Web), corporate systems (OpenSplice™ Enterprise) and complementary networks (via Vortex Gateway).  From its Starter Kit (Café, Web and tools) to the full Vortex suite, its components are delivered in convenient and affordable development and deployment bundles to simplify the evaluation and procurement process.

The Vortex family also comes with a complete set of tools in support of systems’ development and management (e.g. configuring, testing, optimizing, monitoring and recording system behavior) and it provides a rich and open API for integration with other IoT application development technologies (such as IDEs, Java EE application servers, M2M platforms and analytics engines).

“Vortex represents a breakthrough in software enablement technology for the IoT and particularly the most demanding and business-critical applications of the IoT,” said Steve Jennis, SVP Corporate Development, PrismTech.  “It is unique in offering the first platform that enables all IoT end-point applications to share data in real-time: mobile employees, smart machines, tiny sensors, enterprise / cloud applications (including data analytics) and legacy systems.”

Quantized Neural Networks for FPGA Inference

Sponsored by Intel

Implementing a low precision network in FPGA hardware for efficient inferencing provides numerous advantages when it comes to meeting demanding specifications. The increased flexibility allows optimization of throughput, overall power consumption, resource usage, device size, TOPs/watt, and deterministic latency. These are important benefits where scaling and efficiency are inherent requirements of the application.

Machine Learning on the Edge
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Infineon
Edge machine learning is a great way to allow embedded devices to run applications that can collect sensor data and locally process that data. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Clark Jarvis from Infineon explore how the IMAGIMOB Studio, ModusToolbox™ Software, and PSoC and AURIX™ microcontrollers can help you develop a custom machine learning on the edge application from scratch. They also investigate how the IMAGIMOB Studio can help you easily develop and deploy AI/ML models and the benefits that the PSoC™ 6 Artificial Intelligence Evaluation Kit will bring to your next machine learning on the edge application design process.
