Cree SC³ Technology Platform Continues to Deliver Innovation with Brighter XLamp® High-Voltage LEDs

DURHAM, N.C.–Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE), a market leader in LED lighting, announces the availability of brighter Cree® XLamp XT-E and XM-L High-Voltage LEDs to provide manufacturers more efficient, cost-effective components. The new, high-performance LEDs leverage the SC³ Technology Platform, which also powered the previously introduced XLamp® XB-D and XT-E LEDs. The SC³ Technology Platform, built on Cree’s advanced silicon carbide technology, features advancements in LED chip architecture and phosphor, and boasts a new package design to deliver the most advanced LED components in the industry.

Leveraging the SC3 Technology Platform, the brighter XT-E and XM-L High-Voltage LEDs deliver up to 22 percent more lumens than their predecessors. XLamp XT-E and XM-L High Voltage LEDs are designed to use lower cost, higher efficiency and smaller size drivers than standard-voltage LEDs. The brighter high-voltage XLamp XT-E and XM-L LEDs provide comparable performance to their standard-voltage counterparts, eliminating the trade-off of optimizing for either LED efficacy or driver efficiency. The new high-voltage XLamp LEDs provide customers with more design options to address a wider spectrum of small indoor and outdoor lighting applications such as accent lights and replacement lamps.

“Relentless innovation, like the SC3 Technology Platform, will always be part of Cree’s DNA, and applying the innovations to optimize application performance, lower system cost and drive LED lighting adoption is our mission,” said Mike Watson, Cree senior marketing director, LED components. “Leveraging the power of the SC³ Technology Platform, Cree has fundamentally transformed price-performance with the XB-D LED, set new performance standards with the XT-E LED and with the introduction of the new XT-E and XM-L High-Voltage LEDs, redefined performance limits for LEDs of this size.”

The XT-E High-Voltage LEDs can deliver up to 357 lumens at 3 watts in cool white (6500K) and up to 275 lumens at 3 watts in warm white (3000K), both at 85°C. The XM-L High-Voltage LEDs can deliver up to 647 lumens at 6 watts in cool white (6500K) and 555 lumens at 6 watts in warm white (3000K) both at
85°C.

High Power Charging Inlets
All major truck and bus OEMs will be launching electric vehicle platforms within the next few years and in order to keep pace with on-highway and off-highway EV innovation, our charging inlets must also provide the voltage, current and charging requirements needed for these vehicles. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Drew Reetz from TE Connectivity investigate charging inlet design considerations for the next generation of industrial and commercial transportation, the differences between AC only charging and fast charge and high power charging inlets, and the benefits that TE Connectivity’s ICT high power charging inlets bring to these kinds of designs.
