Wolfson introduces innovative new range of imaging solutions

Edinburgh, UK, April 20 2011 – Wolfson Microelectronics plc has today announced a new range of analog front end (AFE) digitizer integrated circuits, which can be easily integrated into the latest generation of imaging equipment in the home or office including digital copiers, scanners (including portable bar code scanners) and multi-function printers (MFPs).

Part of Wolfson’s imaging portfolio, the WM8232, WM8233, WM8234 and WM8235 process and digitize the analog output signals from Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) sensors or Contact Image Sensors (CIS). They offer a variety of channel and ADC configurations, allowing system designers to choose the configuration which best suits their purpose. For the consumer, this means higher scanning speeds at high scan resolutions, while the flexible architecture makes it easier for engineers to design the products into their systems, speeding up the design process.

Nigel Burgess, Product Line Manager for Imaging, Computing and Entertainment, at Wolfson Microelectronics, said, “These new AFE products provide a range of highly flexible solutions which can be easily integratedinto the latest digital copiers, scanners and MFPs. With these solutions, designers are able to select from a variety of available configurations, allowing endusers to get the best results out of the imaging equipment in their home oroffice.”

Availability

The four new imaging parts are available for sampling from August, in a 56-lead QFN package.
