Adesto’s DataFlash® Memory Enables Smart Features and Longer Battery-Life in the Ozobot® Evo, the Connected Social Robot

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Adesto Technologies (NASDAQ:IOTS), a leading provider of application-specific, ultra-low power non-volatile memory (NVM) products, announced that its DataFlash memory device helps enable the intelligent operation of the Ozobot Evo, a new smart robot toy that connects learners and creators to explore, collaborate and share.

Adesto’s DataFlash memory devices employ smart features to optimize energy consumption and provide fast, high-endurance data logging for consumer, communication, mobile and industrial applications. Such products need extremely long battery life, and can benefit from Adesto’s low power consumption and wide voltage solutions as compared to commodity memory devices.

The Evo robot (made by Evollve, Inc.) is designed to provide users, especially children, with an introduction to programming an animated object. The Evo has infrared proximity sensing, as well as color and light sensors. By drawing an ink pattern on paper, the robot follows the pattern and traces its path. Different colors tell the robot to move in a different direction or to stop. The Evo robot even detects and avoids objects that come into its path.

The lights, sounds and navigation can also be programmed using “Ozoblockly”, a visual block language which can upload instructions to the robot by Bluetooth communication.

“The Ozobot Evo demonstrates the value that smart memory like DataFlash offers to system designers,” said Raphael Mehrbians, VP of Marketing of Adesto Technologies. “We continue to develop innovative memory solutions that optimize system energy and improve performance. Inventive products like Evo will inspire a new generation of tech-savvy developers.”

“We’ve engineered the Ozobot family of products to provide users a diverse, entertaining experience, and the longest life possible on a single battery charge. To achieve this, we’ve carefully selected each device,” said Evollve CTO Armen Kroyan. “Adesto’s  DataFlash memory is a truly value-added component.”
