Solar-powered SmartMesh IP wireless networks enable maintenance-free Internet of Things

HANNOVER, GERMANY – April 13, 2015 – Linear Technology will be demonstrating its SmartMesh IP™ embedded wireless mesh networks, powered by Sol Chip’s Solar Battery, at Hannover Fair 2015 Trade Show – Hall 9, Stand G29. The use of solar energy to power industrial Internet of Things applications provides users with a maintenance-free wireless solution, as no batteries are required for operation.

SmartMesh IP wireless mesh networks are built for IP compatibility, and based on 6LoWPAN and 802.15.4e standards. The SmartMesh IP product line achieves unsurpassed levels of networking resilience, reliability, and scalability with advanced network management and comprehensive security. SmartMesh IP embedded wireless networks include breakthrough Eterna® SoC technology that enables up to 8x lower power consumption than competitive solutions, even in harsh, dynamically changing RF environments. Cost-effective, IP-compatible, and widely applicable, SmartMesh IP wireless networks serve an extensive range of applications, such as energy management, building automation, renewable energy, and other implementations in smart infrastructure that require ultralow power.

SmartMesh IP Features:

• >99.999% Data Reliability
• Ultralow Power – Even Routing Nodes May Run Indoors on Solar Power
• Complete Networking Solution – No Network Stack Development Required

Sol Chip’s innovative Solar Battery (Light Battery) integrates all the required components – in a single battery unit – to harvest and supply sustainable solar/light energy to low-power applications. Sol Chip’s technology utilizes low-cost manufacturing flow, thereby increasing overall efficiency and decreasing design complexity, while reducing cost.
